Derby's St. Mary-St. Michael School bouncing back

DERBY — Enrollment is up and so are the spirits of staff and parents at St. Mary-St. Michael School. Principal Linda Coppola said that it was only two years ago that the school, which houses prekindergarten through eighth grade, was on the verge of closing. When she became principal in July 2010, the school had 60 students enrolled. There are 135 students for the coming school year, Coppola said. “We’re on the upswing.”
