September 4, 2013 HAS Meeting Minutes
1. Principal's Report
(a.) Mrs. Coppola thanked the membership for staying on for the evening’s meeting.
(b.) Mr. Stavris, the music teacher, was introduced. Mr. Stavris explained the music program offers weekly half-hour sessions starting on October 15, 2013. There will be enrollment and instrument rental fees. Mrs. Coppola encouraged membership to sign-up.
(c.) Friday, September 6, 2013 is the First Friday Mass. Children K through 8 will be attending Mass in full uniform. Little Saints opens at 1:00 p.m.
(d.) Grandparents Day Luncheon will be held on September 13, 2013. Grandparents are welcomed to come have lunch with the students. Grandparents are responsible for providing lunch for the children and themselves.
(e.) Family Day is September 23, 2013. There is a national campaign emphasizing the importance of families sitting down for dinner together. Our own Mikayla Naranjo won this year’s contest of designing the annual “Family Day” poster. Her poster will be distributed throughout the Archdiocese.
(f.) The Knights of Columbus are having their All-You-Can-Eat BBQ on September 29, 2013. Mrs. Coppola encouraged membership support for all the Knights have done and continue to do for our school.
(g.) There will be no Family Dinner in September. The first one will be held on October 19, 2013 featuring porketta.
(h.) Reminder of the upcoming Golf Tournament on October 7, 2013. Playing golf, sponsoring the tournament or donating a raffle prize will all go towards your assessment.
(i.) Initial district-wide bus issues are getting better as the school days go on.

2. President’s Report
HSA President, Mark Adams, opened by reminding membership to sign in for credit towards their assessment. They were also reminded to pay HSA dues.
(a.) Response to Volunteer Appreciation
A big thank you went out for the number of volunteers signing up for this year’s events.
(b.) Need for Chair People
(i.) Chairs were requested for Festival of Trees and Trunk or Treat.
1.     Diana Brancato and Dee Re stepped up to co-chair Trunk or Treat.
2.     Carla Lombardo will remain the active lead for Festival of Trees but will need assistance since she will be out of town the evening before the fair. Heidi Maraucci has offered to help assist and guide.
(ii.) Chair folders available from previous committees to help the incoming committees through their event’s process.

3. Secretary’s Report
(a.) HSA Blog Sign-up
(i.) Corresponding Secretary, Suzanne Foley, reminded membership to check their SPAM folders for e-mail subscriptions if they are not receiving their blog updates.

4. Treasurer’s Report
HSA 1st Treasurer, Jen Shuart, handed out Treasurer Reports to the membership.
(a.) A lot of the 2012-2013 school year assessments have been collected and are still coming in.
(b.)  $627.00 in checks was received on the evening of the meeting.
(c.) The Back to School Pancake Breakfast profit was $100.00.
(d.) $32,000 is needed for this year’s operating costs.
(e.) $3,845.40 in assessments were raised and is being shared across membership.
(f.) A question was asked about the “Miscellaneous” on report. It was explained those were deposits made during the summer by former Treasurer, George Pudimat. He will clarify specifics for next Treasurer’s Report.

5. Bingo Report
Christine Clark thanked everyone for the interest in Bingo. Especially Deb Sibilia and Michelle Iacuone for stepping up to help this year.
(a.) Bingo is every Thursday night. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Kitchen opens at
5:30 p.m. Bingo begins at 6:45 p.m.
(b.) Ways to Help (and eat free when you do)
(i.) Set-up help starts at 4:00 p.m. by setting up tables and chairs.
(ii.) Donate baked goods. Make sure to sign-in on sheet is located on kitchen counter to receive credit.
(iii.) Donate $5.00 Scratch Off lottery tickets. Lottery tickets are to be given to Mrs. Coppola directly.
(iv.) Bingo Floor Workers (CT State issued PIN required).
(v.) Help out in the kitchen.
(vi.) Clean-up crew starting at 9:30 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes. See Rob Shandrowski who is requesting extra crew help.

6. Committee Report
(a.) Yankee Candle
(i.) Due September 17, 2013 and there are two ways to order: traditional packets or online.
(b.) Galaxy
(i.) Galaxy fundraiser begins September 30, 2013.
(c.) Pumpkin Festival
(i.) Christine Bohon will get the Health Permit from Seymour.
(ii.) There are many volunteers for this committee. Mark will be contacting them shortly through email addresses provided to schedule meetings.
(d.) Trunk-or-Treat
(i.) Diana Brancato and Dee Re stepped up to co-chair Trunk or Treat.

                        (i.) Need at least 2 more volunteers
(f.) Festival of Trees

(i.) We have a committee to fulfill the December 11, 2013 event.

(i.) No date has been set yet for the Wine Tasting event.
(ii) Mrs. Coppola confirmed the venue of 500 degrees is still set but needs to work with the committee to run the event.

(i.) Bylaws
(i.) Mark is meeting with the committee in a few weeks to start the process.
(j.) Old Business
(i.) Gina McKay was nominated and sworn in as 1st Vice President. Welcome, Gina!!

6. Announcements from Members
(a.) Ernie Lagoya requested those who sign up for the soccer team this year to let him know if they will need new uniform shirts. Players may also still wear last years. Soccer practice will be either Monday or Friday.
(b.) Gloriann Albini requested used ink cartridges be donated to the school for recycling. Can be from home or business. Also reminded membership to collect and bring in Box Tops, Coke Tabs and to sign up at Stop & Shop and Target for rewards points for the school.
(c.) Chris Carloni will be sending out Basketball Sign-up forms to the membership next week.
(d.) Chris Carloni asked for volunteers to help out for the monthly Family Dinner nights and to donate raffle prizes.
