The Pre-K and Kindergarten classes enjoyed a wonderful
morning visit to Schreiber’s Farm yesterday. The morning started off with the
excitement of riding the school bus with friends and chaperoning mom and dads. After arriving at the farm, we climbed
up into the tractor’s wagon and went for a hayride, enjoying the blue sky and
colorful foliage. Once we reached the wide-open field, hungry cows eagerly
rushed to the tractor waiting to be fed. The children fearlessly
fed the cows hay and enjoyed petting them. Some of our young ones even learned
firsthand that cows have very scratchy tongues! After the cows had full bellies
the farmer drove us to the pumpkin patch, and the children each picked out a
pumpkin to take home. Then the ride continued on, thru the mud and muck and
over a brook to an overlook where the children (cleaned their hands first!) sat in the hay and enjoyed donut holes
and apple cider. We weathered a little sprinkle of rain on the ride back to the
farm and after a quick look, and smell, of the pigs everyone climbed back onto
the bus and we returned to school for lunch. A big thank you to Mrs. Kelly and Ms. Gracia for organizing a
memorable day!
