Trunk or Treat

Dear Parents,

Trunk or Treat is quickly approaching! We are asking each family to donate one bag of treats that will be used to hand out to the children at Trunk or Treat on October 26th. It would be very helpful to the Trunk or Treat organizers if your candy donation can be in by October 22nd. Thank for your help in making this a fun and safe night for our children!

Walk-A-Thon

Our Walk-A-Thon takes place Tuesday, October 15th at Ryan Field. Meet us at the field, catch up with other parents, and cheer the students on as they earn their pledges.  

One hundred percent of your student's pledges are applied to your family assessment! 

• All students are to report to St. Mary-St. Michael School.
• All students will be transported to Ryan Field by buses at 9:15 AM. This includes PreK and Kindergarten students.
• Students will be encouraged to leave their backpacks at school.
• At the conclusion of the Walk-A-Thon the students will brought back to school by bus. (approx. 10:30 AM)
• Lunch will be served as usual.
• Students are to wear their gym uniforms (sweatpants, sweatshirts, flannels, sneakers).
• Students may bring water as a beverage for the walk.

First 100 registered runners to arrive will receive a Derby Dash T-shirt.

CHILDREN ACTIVITIES ON THE GREEN

There will be fun activities for the children on the Derby Green including bounce houses, face painting, nail art, and much more!

HOUSY RIVER DUCK DECORATING CONTEST

Entry fee is $15 and includes the 10-inch rubber ducks to be decorated. Prizes will be given to the Top 3 Ducks. 1st Place $50, 2nd Place $25, 3rd Place two movie tickets.

3PM 
5th ANNUAL HOUSY RIVER DUCK RACE

The race will start at the Derby/Shelton Bridge. Watch the ducks along the Derby Greenway as they race down the Housatonic River. The first 65 rubber ducks to cross the finish line will win exciting prizes. Our top prize this year is $1,000! Duck Raffle tickets are $5 and on sale at the following Derby locations: St. Mary-St. Michael School, St. Mary Church, St. Michael Church, Mattei's Deli, Maria's Hair Gallery, Styles/Nails by Cory and in West Haven at Physicians Physical Therapy. They also will be on sale at Derby Day.

Field Day Update

We are still in need of contributions for Field Day scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th at Coon Hollow from 9:30-1:30.

We need water, cookies, individual bags of chips, watermelon and condiments (ketchup, mustard and relish). Please drop off your donation at the school unless you will be joining us at the field.

There is a meeting scheduled for Friday at 7pm in the all purpose room at St. Mary's. We will make the meeting as brief as possible as I know your time is valuable.

Our goal is to coordinate the games, luncheon and ice cream bonanza in a timely and organized fashion so that the children can get the most out of their day.

I am open to any suggestions and ideas - especially for games to play.

Field Day

Field Day takes place Tuesday, June 11^th, from 9:30AM to 1:30 PM at Coon Hollow in Derby. Buses will transport the children to and from Coon Hollow. The students will spend the day playing kickball, baseball, bouncing in the bounce house and more! Lunch will be provided and includes hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, watermelon, cookies, and water. Please inform us of any allergies. After lunch Mr. Softy’s Ice Cream truck will arrive with soft serve ice cream cones (sprinkles optional), bubble gum, or cotton candy ice cream on a stick for all! Thanks to Mrs. Coppola for providing this special treat. 

Sheri Lotto is looking for volunteers to run games, fill water balloons, help with lunch and more.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Sheri Lotto c/o of Ashley Grade 7. Donations are also appreciated. We are in need of: Water, Cookies, Watermelon, Boxes of individual chips, Condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish), napkins/paper towels, and ice. Former Student Brings Music & Entertainment

Jean Sandoval, a former student of Mr. Nicefaro, visited the school yesterday morning for some electronic guitar music and entertainment.
